Conferral and Academic documents FAQ
Conferral Documents
What is a Testamur?
A testamur is your degree certificate.
- It is the legal certificate confirming you are a recipient of a degree from Western Sydney University.
- It includes your legal name as recorded in MySR, award title, testamur majors, honours, distinctions and conferral date.
- It can be used to demonstrate your qualifications to employers, industry, education institutions and professional bodies or associations.
What is an Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS)?
The AHEGS provides information on a student's higher education qualification, including a record of all subjects undertaken within the specified degree/award, the institution where the qualification was obtained and the Australian higher education system in one easy-to-read document.
The Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS) is a Commonwealth initiative that has been introduced to improve the recognition and portability of Australian qualifications.
What is an Academic Transcript?
An academic transcript/record is the formal written record of all study undertaken at Western Sydney University or Western Sydney University The College.
- It contains the academic record at the time of ordering, including subjects and result.
- We are unable to separate the transcript/record, and no subjects are able to be removed including fail grades.
What's the difference between an Australian Higher Education Statement (AHEGS) and a testamur?
A testamur is your official degree certificate. It includes the following:
- Graduates name
- Award title (name of the degree)
- Testamur major/s
- Date on which the award was conferred
An AHEGS is a larger document which includes the:
- Graduates name and student ID number
- Award title (name of the degree)
- Date on which the award was conferred
- Any applicable key programs, concentrations, majors or minors
- All subjects undertaken within the award
- Advanced Standing (if applicable)
- Course Grade Point Average (GPA)
- Honours award level and special awards (if applicable)
- Information about the graduate's higher education qualification, the institution where the qualification was obtained and the Australian higher education system
What's the difference between an AHEGS and academic transcript/record?
An academic transcript/record can be issued at any time throughout your studies and will list all units you have studied (at the time the order is placed) for all courses you have studied in at the University. An AHEGS can only be issued once you have graduated. An AHEGS lists only the units you have studied in the course you've graduated from. It also provides additional information about your qualification, the institution where this qualification was completed and the Australian higher education system.
Documents for Accreditation
I need to let AHPRA or the Psychology Board know that I've completed my course. How do I do that? (Psychology students)
AHPRA
You will need to apply for a hard copy academic transcript to be sent directly to AHPRA.
To have this document sent directly to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), you need to select the 'Transcript – mailed directly to AHPRA' product when ordering online.
You will need to check what AHPRA need you to provide to them for further education, employment, institutional requirements or immigration purposes.
Psychology Board
You need to apply for a course completion letter and Academic Transcript. Students can send these two documents to the Psychology Board themselves or request that they be sent directly to the Psychology Board through the online ordering system (entering the Psychology Board mailing address)..
Do I need a program completion letter or academic transcript for Nursing registration with AHPRA? (Nursing students)
You don't need a program completion letter or academic transcript for professional registration with AHPRA. Please contact the School of Nursing at nursingcourses@westernsydney.edu.au for more information.
How do I get my academic transcript/record to UAC or QTAC?
If you are applying for admission to a university through an Australian tertiary admissions centre (e.g. UAC or QTAC), you may not need an official transcript. Please contact the relevant admission centre to find out what you need to supply.
