Who should attend these sessions?
All new and commencing PhD, MPhil and Professional Doctorate candidates should attend HDR Orientation sessions.
HDR candidates that are new to Western Sydney University (e.g. after transferring from another University) may also want to attend these sessions.
Master of Research candidates should not attend these sessions as there is a separate Orientation event.
Which sessions do I need to attend?
You need to attend all compulsory sessions. If new HDR candidates miss the HDR Orientation for any reason, they should attend the next available HDR Orientation.
International candidates should also attend the international-only session.
Why do I need to attend these sessions?
HDR Orientation is designed to provide you with the information you need to make a successful start to your candidature. This event is an important part of building research culture. It also provides you with a valuable opportunity to engage with your HDR colleagues across our Schools and Institutes.
