Pilot Buddy Program

What is the Buddy Program?

    • The buddy program is an initiative to help the incoming Exchange and Study Abroad students to be supported in their initial month at Western Sydney University. It is a pilot program which is being offered for the first time in Autumn 2020 session!
It is also an opportunity for Western Sydney University students to assist the incoming students by referring them to the correct University services, showing them around the campus, and sharing some local knowledge about things to do in the Greater Western Sydney region!
    • Places are subject to the interest received from both the Western Sydney University degree students and the incoming Exchange and Study Abroad students.

What is involved?

  • The Western Sydney University student buddy will be expected to meet up with the incoming buddy student/s during the Welcome Week to attend an activity or event together
  • Additionally, the Western Sydney University student should reach out by email in each of the allocated 4 weeks to see if the incoming student is settling well and advise them of some of the support services available at Western Sydney University.
  • Be a supportive buddy that helps Study Abroad and Exchange students to have practical, competent and friendly assistance after arrival in Australia

What is the benefit of participating in this program?

  • Make new friends from different parts of the world
  • Incoming students - have a local student to give you support and guidance
  • Western Sydney University students - make a difference to an incoming students experience by assisting them in settling in and navigating through their first few weeks at Western Sydney University
