Chancellor's Scholarship Appeal

Professor Peter Shergold AC joined Western Sydney University in 2011 as Chancellor after a distinguished academic and public service career.

As the former secretary for the Department of Education and Chair of the National Centre for Vocational Education Research, the Chancellor is passionate about widening access to quality tertiary education and believes the University is realising this mission through the provision of scholarships.

For 30 years, we have been opening up access to higher education for the people of Western Sydney. Many of our students come from multicultural backgrounds, over sixty percent are the first in their family to attend University and a quarter come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. We are committed to helping students succeed and seeing the difference this makes in the community.

Support the Chancellor's Scholarship

The Chancellor's Scholarship has been established to provide opportunity and encouragement to those students who might not otherwise have the chance to study at University because of financial hardship or other circumstances.

'Here is a new, energetic and vibrant university not bound by tradition with an extraordinary mission of opening up opportunities. We are committed and embedded in our region – one that is diverse and growing fast'.

'As a donor to this scholarship, I encourage you to join me in securing greater opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds'.

Congratulations to the students who have been awarded the Chancellor's Scholarship.
