Patient support "The inside story"

Western Sydney University (WSU), School of Medicine welcomes you to "The Inside Story" – a social media group designed and run by the young advocates with gastroparesis and their supports to increase awareness about Chronic Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders and to provide support for Australian patients and their family and friends.

This group has been created as a direct response to the limited support and information available to Australian patients about Chronic Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders. Chronic Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders include gastroparesis, achalasia and chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction which affect the nerves supplying the muscles of the gut. These disorders can be very debilitating but are often invisible to others as patients may look perfectly healthy on the outside.

"The Inside Story" Facebook group will provide the opportunity to interact with sufferers nationwide who are affected by Chronic Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders. You can share your experiences and stories, ask questions, discuss coping mechanisms and share what has and has not worked for you. Please feel free to share this group with any other Australian individuals who you feel may benefit from participating in this group.

We will attempt to make this Facebook group a safe environment for you to share your experiences. This Facebook group is moderated, and any inappropriate or profane comments or posts will not be tolerated and will be removed from the group by the group administrators. This Facebook group will only be used to provide support, and will not give and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
