Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pathway Program

Western Sydney University is committed to providing higher education pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who do not have a HSC or other qualification, or who have an ATAR lower than required for their chosen course, can apply to study at Western Sydney University through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pathway Program.

We accept applications throughout the year with assessment workshops scheduled in June and November.

Current available workshops dates are listed below:

  • Tuesday 16th - Wednesday 17th June 2020 (for mid-year commencement)
  • Wednesday 1st – Thursday 2nd July 2020 (for 2021 commencement)
  • Tuesday 17th - Wednesday 18th November 2020 (for 2021 commencement)

Apply now and attend the two-day assessment, which includes a comprehension essay and a numeracy assessment, as well as a formal interview. The assessment days will be held on:

  • Tuesday 16th - Wednesday 17th June 2020 (for midyear commencement)
  • Wednesday 1st – Thursday 2nd July 2020 (for 2021 commencement)

Frequently asked questions

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pathway Program is an alternative entry pathway. It is a Western Sydney University initiative that aims to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying in all undergraduate course areas.

The program runs over 2 days. 
Day 1 includes an Essay, Comprehension assessment and an informal group interview with an academic within your chosen area of study. 
Day 2 includes a Numeracy assessment for applicants who require mathematics skills in their course. There is revision workshop available prior to the Numeracy assessment.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Whether you are working, unemployed, studying at TAFE, or coming straight from high school, as a prospective student you are not required to have completed the HSC or any other qualifications to apply at Western via the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pathway Program.

No. Applying via the program does not interfere with any UAC applications that you may have already lodged.
