Food waste on campus
We measure food waste generated from food served within the University.
During a pilot launched in 2023, several sites actively participated by separating and measuring organic waste. These data were extrapolated to estimate the average tonnage of food waste per square metre of gross floor area.
This approach enabled us to estimate a total of 39 tonnes of food waste generated across 21 sites in CY2024, as shown in the graph below.
