Setting outstanding targets for mitigation, adaptation and engagement to address Climate Change, and well on their way to meeting them, Western Sydney University was announced as winner of the Climate Action award for co-designing towards Climate Positive initiatives.
Climate Active Carbon Neutral Certification 2023
Western Sydney University first achieved carbon neutral certification (PDF, 530.06 KB) (opens in a new window) for its business operations under the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standards for Organisations for CY 2022
Sustainability Advantage Bronze Partner 2023
Western Sydney University was recognised for its achievements and demonstrated commitment in business sustainability, joined by many outstanding organisations celebrating their inspired work tackling climate change, reducing emissions and modelling circular economy.
Creating Canopies 2022/2023
Western committed to the NSW Government’s Creating Canopies, partnering with Greater Sydney Landcare. 15,000 indigenous plants were installed in Hawkesbury’s paddocks to assist in increasing Biodiversity on the campus.
Race to Zero 2021
In late 2021, Western Sydney University joined the United Nations-led 'Race to Zero for Universities and Colleges' global pledge to fast-track carbon neutrality targets to address climate change.
100% GreenPower 2021
The University started purchasing 100% GreenPower from 1 July 2021.
