The University is committed to creating a superior and engaged learning environment for our students.
Learning and teaching at Western Sydney University is a responsibility of the whole University. We begin from the proposition that the whole experience counts in providing a learning environment that leads to student success. This means that everyone at Western Sydney – teachers, librarians, administrators, technical staff – contributes in some way to fulfilling the goals we have set for ourselves.
We insist on an evidence-based approach to improvements in learning and teaching – using student feedback to find out what attracts and retains students, and working with universities in Australia and abroad to find out what is most effective.
At the heart of our learning and teaching effort are our lecturers, who undertake comprehensive professional development when they join the university. Many of our staff have won prestigious awards and grants in recognition of their teaching skills.
