Westerns Footprint
Wetsern Sydney University has a large footprint across Western Sydney and beyond to support our region and our students, with more than 77% of our domestic students living in Greater Western Sydney. We have main campuses in:
- Bankstown
- Blacktown (Nirimba)

- Hawkesbury
- Liverpool City
- Parramatta (North and South)
- Parramatta City
- Penrith (Kingswood, Werrington North and Werrington South
- Sydney City
We also have a number of other campus sites across the greater region in Bathurst, Blacktown Clinical School, Lismore, Lithgow, Liverpool (Hospital), Macarthur Clinical School (Campbelltown), Olympic Park and Westmead. We also have offshore campus sites in Hong Kong and Vietnam.
Green Star Buildings
Western has received recognition from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) as a leader. We are ranked 3rd in Australia for Green Star certified buildings for the Higher Education sector.
Over the past 5 years, Western Sydney University has become a recognised leader in Green Star certified design and construction in the region, with a total of 8 certified Green Star projects. In some cases these projects are the only Green Star rated projects in their respective LGAs. The benefits of occupying, maintaining and operating a Green Star rated building are well known, with the initial investment being recuperated many times over throughout the life of the building. This includes lower operating costs, increased staff satisfaction, lower emissions and a general improvement in occupant health and amenity. Resilience Planning for Climate Change Risks
A Preliminary Resilience Assessment has been developed to address the risks of climate change on campus infrastructure and communities. Key emerging recommendations included:
- Embedding resilience in strategy and planning, through: enhancing capacities across the CORE domains; promoting citizen scholarship and Living Labs, and developing resilient precincts through Green Star Communities.
- Enhancing integrative infrastructure strategies, including: sustainable energy and water strategies; strategic asset planning, and design for thermal tolerance and protection.
- Implementing adaptation strategies for design and operations, such as: HVAC demands and passive thermal design, thermal comfort through shading and refuges, and readiness for increasing bushfire risk and storm damage.
Filtered Water Stations
Free filtered water stations are now available at all campuses. Bring along a reusable water bottle to campus and give the free water refill stations a go. We have over 40 water bottle refill stations installed across our campuses. Make sure you bring your own and fill up. You can find them on the campus maps.
Smoke-Free Campuses
Western Sydney University is a smoke-free environment. For the health and wellbeing of all students, workers and visitors, the University became completely smoke-free in 2014 with the implementation of the Smoke-Free Environment Policy .
