Bankstown campus - UWSCollege
A new three-storey five-star Greenstar rated building has been
constructed for UWSCollege on the Bankstown campus. It is located adjacent to
buildings 18 and 19, and provides flat-floor teaching space, collaborative
learning space and student amenities. The new UWSCollege facility will provides students with greater study
options.
Nirimba Education Precinct, Blacktown campus - U10
A new two-storey five-star Greenstar rated teaching facility has been
constructed for UWSCollege on the Nirimba Education Precinct, Blacktown campus,
to accommodate the existing student numbers and additional student load
expected in years to come. The new building has been constructed adjacent to
buildings U3 and U4, close to the centre of the UWSCollege facilities on the
campus and in place of vacant residential buildings U5, U6 and U7. It
incorporates flat-floor teaching space and a 400-seat lecture theatre.
Campbelltown campus - Clinical School
The university is working
with the State Government to cofund a Clinical School, Research and
Education Centre at Campbelltown Hospital. This project will provide a teaching
and research facility in the Campbelltown Hospital Campus to support its role
as a large teaching hospital following the significant recent investment in
expanding clinical services. The project represents the ongoing collaboration
between the University and the Local Health District in
developing the capacity of the Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals as integrated
education and research health facilities. It is anticipated that the facility
will achieve a five-start greenstar rating. Architectus have been engaged as the lead consultants to develop the
project design to the Development Application stage.
Hawkesbury campus - Building L9, Climate Change Ingress
L9 is a 1,870sqm two-storey brick
building that was constructed in the 1920s as a teaching facility for the
Hawkesbury Agricultural College. Before this project commenced, the only major
work that had been done to the building since construction was the addition of
a two-storey annexure to the North and a brick lean-to to the South of the
central wing in the 1960's. During 2011 and 2012, building L9 underwent
a major refurbishment for the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment. The new,
five-star green star, L9 has user friendly communal spaces, state-of-the-art
lecture theatres and laboratories and facilities for post-graduate studies and
research. The unique research spaces includes growth chambers/rooms and "next
generation" DNA sequencing.
Parramatta campus - New Science Facility
A three-storey 4,600 m2 science facility is being designed
for the Parramatta south campus to accommodate the School of Science and
Health, the Advanced Materials Characterisation Facility and the School of
Social Sciences and Psychology. The building will include research areas,
teaching spaces and office accommodation (individual and open-plan), as well as
an art therapy studio and social science laboratories. The building is being designed as a 6 star
green facility with a state of the art mechanical system designed to operate
within the power limitations set for the campus.The new building will be constructed between buildings ED and EH.
Penrith campus - Werrington Park Corporate
Centre
A new three-storey, five-star Greenstar rated building has been built,
as stage one of the Werrington Park Corporate Centre. The new building is
located in the north-eastern corner of the campus, fronting the Great Western
Highway and will offer commercial/ research accommodation with associated
amenities and on-site parking. The intent is to strengthen the ties between the university and industry, attract new industries to the area and facilitate the
establishment and growth of those industries. A large stormwater detention basin has been constructed adjacent to the
new building for irrigating landscaping and managing stormwater. The building reached practical completion in mid-March and includes a
new industry incubator space within the building footprint.
Penrith campus - UWSCollege
A new five-star Greenstar rated,
single-storey building has been constructed for UWSCollege on the Penrith
campus, Kingswood to provide Western Sydney students with greater study
options. The new teaching facility comprises a lecture theatre, 4 flat floor
teaching spaces, a computer lab and dry lab, and social/collaborative learning
spaces.
Penrith campus - New Library
A new, state-of-the-art library has been constructed
for the Penrith campus, Kingswood. The new six-storey purpose-built building consolidates
the teaching facilities on the campus and provides students with a new, central
resource centre that provides a synergy between traditional hardcopy resource
materials and contemporary, electronic, interactive learning.
