“Leadership 2.0”, “lateral leadership”, “the democratisation of leadership” – leading without a title goes by many names. It looks at a leadership approach that exerts influence without authority and causes valuable, positive change in the way we approach problems and innovate. In its essence, it is the power of individuals to harness the abilities of everyone involved by creatively shifting the way we think about the world, our organisational impact, the industry we work in, our communities or ourselves.

2017 LEAD Conference – Be a Change Maker

The 2017 conference theme of ‘be a change maker’ took place on Tuesday 11th April 2017 at Kingswood Campus.

It was a great day for our 170 student delegates, participating in break-out sessions, engaging with keynote speakers and networking with their peers in a professional context. This year's theme was "Be A Change Maker". Making sure our students know how to adapt and live in our rapidly changing world is one thing, but building our students to be part of that change and contribute positively to making the change better for our humanity and environment is another. This conference explored ideas surrounding entrepreneurship, innovation, humanitarianism, activism and advocacy and worked to build the aspirations of our student leaders to be part of 'better change'. Being able to make a change is a quality of leadership. In order to make a difference in our community, create social impact or to be a social innovator and entrepreneur we need to be able to create, embrace and make change.

Keynotes included: Tom Dawkins, and Dr Amanda Tattersall

External Facilitators included: LinkedIn, The Red Cross, New River Leadership & Laugh Masters Academy
