Professional Staff Conference

Since its inception in 2010, the University's Professional Staff Conference has become an important event in the University calendar. The Conference provides Professional Staff members the opportunity to share what we do across the University and to engage with our Senior Leaders on strategic discussions.

The registration fee for the Professional Staff Conference is $125 which is charged to each participant's cost centre. Registration fees are non-refundable, but can be transferred to a colleague. Please email if you can no longer attend or wish to transfer your registration to a colleague.

Registration covers:

  • Full day attendance
  • Conference satchel, including printed program
  • Catering (welcome tea/coffee, morning tea and lunch)
  • Drinks and canapes after the conference
  • Lots of goodies!

The Conference is aimed at Professional Staff, including administrators, managers and technical officers. This year's program features:

  • An opening address by the University's Vice-Chancellor and President;
  • Concurrent sessions comprising presentations by Professional staff;
  • Speed Mentoring sessions
  • Keynote address by Dan Gregory and Kieran Flanagan
  • and a bit of space for fun and prizes!

The concurrent sessions showcase achievements, innovations, best practice and collaborative ventures at the University. There are sessions relevant to managers and administrative and technical staff, giving delegates the opportunity to choose to attend specific presentations of interest and relevance.

Conference registrations start at 8am. The conference runs from 9am to 4pm followed by a networking session including drinks and canapes from 4 to 5pm.

Keynote Speakers

Dan Gregory and Kieran Flanagan

One of Australia’s most commercially successful teams

Dan Gregory and Kieran Flanagan are the strategic and creative team behind some of Australia’s most extraordinary commercial success stories, including the most successful new product launch in the nation’s history.

They have an almost 20 year history and together have spoken to audiences at events as diverse as Coca-Cola Sales Conferences, Small Business Seminars and even the UN in Singapore as part of a think tank to form a strategy for ending human trafficking in the region.

In addition to co-founding innovation and training company, The Impossible Institute, Kieran has run Australia’s premier creative school AWARD as Director and Head Lecturer, having worked as a lecturer and tutor at the school for over a decade. Meanwhile, her offsider Dan has travelled the world working as a stand-up comedian, worked as a social commentator in the media, a panelist on ABC TV’s The Gruen Transfer and as a corporate speaker on engagement, innovation and leadership.

Together they are the archetypal “odd couple” drawing comparisons from their clients to the likes of musicians Lennon & McCartney and magicians Penn & Teller (In case you were wondering, Dan is the big, judgmental, bombastic one, Kieran is the insightful one that people actually like).

Their on stage presentations are a mixture of interactivity, art, conversation and thought provoking comedy. Kieran often acts as ringmaster guiding the conversation whilst Dan prowls the audience keeping the energy and engagement high. Both are talented artists and alternate between talking to visually arresting slides, delivering their shared 40 years of commercial wisdom, demonstrating their process using audience “volunteers” and illustrating each other’s points on a tablets and flip charts with a to-and-fro banter that is infectiously entertaining.

Venue and Transport Information

This year's event will be hosted at Rosehill Gardens, situated approximately 10 minutes from Parramatta CBD.

Ample free parking is available at Rosehill Gardens.  Enter via Gate 1, Grand Avenue.

Shuttle buses will be operating between Parramatta City (Peter Shergold Building) and Rosehill Gardens in the morning and afternoon.  If you decide you would like to catch the bus from Parramatta (and haven't previously advised via the registration process), please advise the Conference organising team via email before Friday 21 June.
