Student ClubsOverview

With many Student Clubs to choose from, our students have a vibrant social life on and off campus. With opportunities to connect to interest-based professional and social groups across campuses and online, it is a wonderful way to meet new people and make friends!

Your Campus will have its own set of Student Clubs, but you can travel to any Campus and enjoy the Club activities on offer. Keep an eye out for your Student Clubs on Campus early on during each Semester.

Student Clubs are an essential part of university life. They provide students with many benefits including a space to meet like-minded people who share an interest, explore new interests, or connect with other students from a similar cultural background. There is space to build new social connections, develop long-term friendships and nurture your sense of belonging. Additionally, clubs provide opportunities to promote a cause, advocate for social/political issues, campaign, etc.

Club Interest Groups

With many interest groups covered, our student clubs vary. The current clubs at Western can be broadly categorised into:

  • Program related/Academic
  • Cultural
  • Political
  • Religious
  • Social
  • Sporting
  • General interest/hobby

Starting a Club

If you have not found something that interests you, why not start your own club! Start thinking about what you would like to do and how you can create a community with other students who share the same interests at Western Sydney University. The beauty of starting a student club is that it is YOUR Student Club. Think of an idea, show initiative, take the reins, and off you go. As a club leader, you can develop skills in leadership, teamwork, and administration all transferable skills for future job prospects. All you go all you need to get started is:

  • A unique idea different from existing clubs.
  • 10 founding members (Of these, three (3) shall take up the core positions of President, Treasurer and Secretary, see Executive Role Guides)
  • Draft a mission statement and complete your Club Constitution using our template (opens in a new window)

See our Starting a Club Guide (PDF, 426.29 KB) (opens in a new window) for further information.
