Biography

Dr Darestani is visiting academic from Queensland University of technology (QUT). At QUT she is an Advance Queensland Research Fellow (since 2016) and her research is sponsored by an industry partner and QLD Ministry of Fishery and Agriculture. Before Joining QUT in 2014, Dr. Darestani worked in University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and University of Sydney as postdoctoral research fellow (2012-2014). In addition to working on innovative solutions and scholarly work, Dr Darestani has experience working with various industry partners and has received funding for all her academic roles.  She also worked as Applications Engineer and Research and Development Engineer at a company (2009-2013) before coming back to academia. Her research interest is on materials and technologies for Sustainable Engineering with focus on water treatment and desalination. Dr Darestani has published over 25 papers in high impact journals and her applied research has resulted in a patent, several products, and commercial processes used by industry partners. Dr Darestani has though into several subjects at QUT and USYD and she is an associate fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA).
