Primary and Community Health Wound Assessment and Management Model of Care (ComWAT Study)

Following the review of the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) Community Health Services, a new wound assessment and management model of care was designed and implemented across five primary and community service sites (Fairfield, Bowral, Liverpool, Bankstown and Macarthur).

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of the new wound assessment and management model of care against the previous model of care in SWSLHD for managing patients with wounds, including evaluation of cost-benefit. It also seeks to explore the perceptions and satisfaction of patients and health professionals with the new model of care. Knowledge gained from this study will provide evidence to guide service delivery and improve patient outcomes.
