Developing, implementing and evaluating a nursing initiated oral health program for aboriginal families

Maintaining perinatal oral health is important for the health and well being of the mother and child.  This is especially important for aboriginal pregnant women and infants who are at a higher risk of suffering poor oral health than the general population.  Current barriers to perinatal oral health existing in Australia highlight the need for further preventative initiatives to improve maternal and infant oral health for aboriginal Australians.
