Service Director - WSU Early Learning Blacktown

We are looking for a passionate and committed Early Childhood Professional to continue to lead this high-quality service and join the Western Sydney University Early Learning Executive Management Team.

Western Sydney University Early Learning Ltd (WSUELL) is staffed by a professional and committed early childhood team. With a supportive hands on management team, positive team culture and a focus on professional development we take a leading role within the early childhood sector. Our six services provide high quality education, care and early learning experiences for our children in safe, stimulating, inclusive and nurturing environments, working in partnership with families, Western Sydney University and our diverse community.

About the Service and the role

WSU Early Learning Blacktown is located on the Nirimba Education Precinct in Quakers Hill. The service operates from 7.30am-6.00pm for 50 weeks per year and is licensed for 50 children per day.

As the Director you will effectively and efficiently manage the overall operations of the Service ensuring continued quality practice, responsive service delivery and the ongoing provision of high-quality care and education for the children. Working closely with the General Manager and the Executive Management Team you will develop and manage the service budget and ensure maximum service utilisation. In addition, you will be responsible for providing support to families, leadership and development to the service staff and making connections within the community.

Essential selection criteria

*Degree in Early Childhood Teaching and NESA registration
*Current First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training
*Sound understanding of early childhood theory and curriculum planning for children 0-5 years
*Extensive experience in managing children's services - 3 year minimum

This includes well developed organisational management skills such as time management and prioritising workload and motivating and mentoring staff within an education and care service.

*A high level of interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective professional relationships. This will include excellent oral and written communication, conflict resolution skills, and presentation and negotiation skills.
*Experience in interpreting policy and be actively involved in the review of policies and procedures.
*Demonstrate understanding of the principles of anti- discrimination, staff and student equity, workplace health and safety and other relevant legislation and the willingness and capacity to implement equal employment opportunity and workplace health and safety plans, policy and programs.
*As a child safe organisation all employees are required to have and provide a Working with Children Check clearance and number for verification and National Police Check.
*DEC approved Child Protection Training certificate
*Sound knowledge of Education and Care National Law and Regulations

Desirable Criteria

*Experience in preparing and managing budgets, monitoring budgets and financial transactions against approved budgets
*Experience in leading a team in the preparation and assessment under the National Quality Standard.
*Strong experience in recruitment and team development.
