Dr Alba Tuninetti

Postdoctoral Fellow

Research Program: Speech and Language

Alba is broadly interested in second language learning and speech perception. She completed her PhD in 2015, examining how similarity to the first language, training, feedback, and cue strength influence the neural and behavioural processing of nonnative phonemes using EEG and behavioral methodologies (University of Pittsburgh). She received an Endeavour Research Fellowship from the Australian Department of Education to work with A/Prof Paola Escudero where she is interested in examining how the acoustics of the first language influence the perception of nonnative phonemes with EEG. She is also interested in bilingual speech and accent perception (and language processing more generally), investigating how the first language influences the second language at the acoustic and phonological levels.
