Student wins police car design competition

Have you seen a NSW Police Porsche driving around Sydney? You may be interested to know that this Porsche's graphics wrap was designed by a UWS student.

When the call-out was made for graphic designs to wrap around the Porsche Police car, which was donated to the Police Harbourside Local Area Command by Porsche Cars Australia, International student Sam Nejat drew on his lifelong hobby of drawing. His design was chosen by NSW Police and Porsche Cars Australia to decorate a 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera, which has been fitted out as a Police vehicle.

Sam was announced as the winner during the NSW Police Beach Soccer Tournament at Coogee Beach in late September, which 12 UWS students were participating in. The tournament was televised by SBS with UWS as a sponsor.

Sam is from Iran and is currently studying his Master of Accountancy at the Sydney Graduate School of Management on the Parramatta CBD campus.

"The challenge was to make it as simple as possible, but sophisticated, too," says Sam. "I really enjoyed participating because I have done this kind of thing as a hobby since I was a kid."

Sam says one of the best things about the competition is all the people he has met since winning. "I got to know a lot of good people from NSW Police, UWS International and more," he says.

Sam says he is really enjoying studying in Australia. "After a year living in the society, and getting more familiar with this beautiful country and its really friendly and down-to-earth people, I am really considering my options after graduation to hopefully get a good job and maybe start a new life in Australia."

For winning the competition, the Porsche will appear on a UWS campus for a day – so keep a lookout!
