Staff Snapshot - Clare MacLean

Dr Clare MacLean is a Lecturer of Music within the School of Humanities and Communication Arts.

Clare was recently awarded the Choral/Vocal Work of the Year award at the 2012 Art Music Awards, proudly presented by the Australasian Performing Right Association.

In this week’s Staff Snapshot we explore Clare’s journey at UWS.

Clare MacLean When did you start working at UWS and what was your first role?

I started in 1997 as a casual lecturer and tutor.

Describe your current job/role:

I am lecturing and tutoring in four music theory subjects: Basic Composition Craft and Theory, Composition Craft and Theory, Arranging Music and Music and Analysis.  

I am also co-supervising three HDR candidates.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I enjoy the positive feedback from students and having the opportunity to be involved in researching the music that I like.

What do you love most about working at UWS?

The collegial environment.

What are you going to be working on in the next 12 months?  

Apart from teaching, I’ll be writing several pieces of music.
