JAWS
What is JAWS?
JAWS (Job Access With Speech), is a popular screen reader, developed for Microsoft Windows computer users whose vision loss prevents them from seeing screen content or navigating with a mouse. JAWS provides speech and Braille output for popular computer applications on your computer and supports a range of languages.
Getting Started
Work through the Getting Started page on the Freedom Scientific website to learn how to use some of the more commonly used features. Basic training is available in Daisy, Mp3 and HTML format and covers skills like starting JAWS, adjusting speech, reading documents and browsing the web.
To make better use of the program you will need to learn what it is capable of and figure out which settings you may want to tweak to optimise your experience. To do this, browse the videos below for demonstrations of JAWS functionality. You can also make use of keyboard shortcuts, known as JAWS Hotkeys or JAWS Touch Gestures to increase your efficiency.
