What is Alumni?

Individuals who have graduated from the Western Sydney University and its antecedent institutions automatically become 'Alumni', a lifetime member of the Alumni community.

The Alumni team aims to help all students remain connected with their university following graduation, providing ongoing involvement within the University community for you as an alumnus. 

Updating My Contact Details FAQ's

Alumni are now able to update their details through GradLife Online.

To update your details:

  • Log into GradLife Online
  • Click on "Update your Details"
  • Ensure your details are up to date
  • Click "update"

All GradLife members have to register as a new user their first time using the GradLife Online portal.

GradLife Membership FAQ's

Alumni provides a large range of GradLife and Alumni Benefits to graduates of Western Sydney University. GradLife Membership is free and open to all graduates of the University. 

All GradLife members will be notified by email of any new benefits or special offers exclusive to WesternU Alumni, as well as any additional news, event invitations or networking opportunities.

To become a GradLife Member you need to register online at GradLife Online.

All GradLife members have to register as a new user their first time using the GradLife Online portal.

Join GradLife Online

GradLife Membership is free.

A range of GradLife and Alumni Benefits are available to graduates of Western Sydney University. Some of the benefits made available to GradLife Members are:

  • Personalised GradLife Membership Card
  • GradLife Magazine Subscription
  • University Library Access

 

All new GradLife alumni members, and requests for new cards, will be issued with a new membership card (within Australia) automatically will be mailed to the nominated address within 8-10 weeks of confirmation.

Already a GradLife member but want to update or replace your GradLife card?

Follow these steps:

  • Login to GradLife online
  • Click on "Update your Details"
  • Ensure your postal address is up to date
  • In the Alumni Card section, check the box for "Please send me an Alumni card"
  • Click "update"

To cancel your GradLife Membership you should contact the Alumni Office.

Library Membership FAQs

Alumni GradLife Members have access to the University's Library and a range of their facilities. This is a free service for all GradLife Members. If you are Western Alumni you can register or update your GradLife membership using the below instructions.

Steps to becoming an Alumni borrower:

  1. Become a member of GradLife online - membership is free and you will automatically receive a GradLife card in the mail*
  2. Contact your local campus library to ensure that the services you require are offered to alumni borrowers
  3. Visit your local campus library, with photo ID and show your GradLife card at the front desk to update the system and begin borrowing. (If you have not yet received your card, print out your email confirmation of GradLife membership and present to the Library along with photo ID).

*All new GradLife alumni members, and requests for new cards, will be issued with a new membership card (within Australia) will be mailed to the nominated address within 8-10 weeks of confirmation.

GradLife Members are able to borrow up to 30 items for a 14 day loan period as well as having certain access to the Library's online e-resources. For more information view our Alumni Library Access Page.

If you have not received your GradLife Membership Card you are still able to access the Library. Print out your email confirmation of GradLife membership and present to the Library along with photo ID.

*note: if you have any borrowing issues when using the library without your GradLife Membership Card please request that Library Staff to contact the Alumni Team.

Alumni Chapter FAQs

You can become a member of any Alumni Chapter by completing the online Alumni Keep In Touch Form and nominate the chapter/s you wish to join. Alternatively, you can contact the Alumni office.

Alumni Chapter Membership is free. There are no joining costs involved.

To cancel your GradLife Membership you should contact the Alumni Office. Please inform Alumni Staff that you no longer wish to be a member of a certain chapter and we will remove your name from the membership list.

Graduation FAQs

For more information and all Graduations inquiries is it is recommended that you visit the Graduations Page.

While we recommend you do join Alumni before the cut off date you are still able to join Alumni, as well as GradLife if you wish, if it has passed. You can join by visiting GradLife Online.

Academic Transcripts, Testamurs and Award Verification FAQs

You can request a replacement testamur if your original testamur has been lost, damaged or destroyed, or if you have legally changed your name since the issue of your testamur.

If you require a transcript of results for all attempted units during your study at Western Sydney University or The College (Diploma students only) you will need to order a transcript via the Academic Document Ordering System.

The academic transcript you receive will be an original provided on official letterhead.

Your employer can verify your award via the Award Verification Service (AVS).

The Award Verification service provides a searchable database of graduates from Western Sydney University. The database displays qualifications /awards received by a student including the date of the graduation/conferral. The database is comprehensive from 2003 onwards and contains a majority of the University's earlier graduate records dating back to 1989. The graduate data is uploaded one week after each graduation round.

If you are seeking additional information about a graduate (e.g. dates of attendance), you will require the graduate's authorisation to comply with New South Wales privacy laws. To request additional information, you will need to supply written consent from the graduate when you submit the online enquiry form.
