Indigenous Racism Register
The Western Sydney University Racism Register provides a safe and confidential way for people to record experiences and observations of racism affecting Indigenous Australians within the University community. The information is collected and held for the purpose of identifying patterns, understanding experiences, and informing reporting, policy development, and broader anti-racism initiatives across the University.
This Register allows you to record any experience or incident that you believe is unfair, harmful, or discriminatory towards Indigenous Peoples, including interpersonal racism, structural or institutional bias, prejudice, or exclusion. You may choose to share anonymously and as much or as little detail as you feel comfortable providing.
The Western Racism Register is not a complaints mechanism, and submissions are not investigated or responded to on an individual basis. If you wish to make a formal complaint or seek individual resolution, information about existing complaints and support pathways is available on the complaints page.
Why we created the Racism Register
Western Sydney University decided to establish a register to record racism following the Respect@Uni survey results. The University has commitment to addressing racism, as outlined in the 2026–2030 Indigenous Strategy and consistent with University values. We expect to publish an annual report along with twice yearly reports to the University Executive.
Depending on the nature of your submission, the University may have an obligation to contact you if there are legislative requirements and you have provided your personal details.
