Yarramundi Lecture 2026

Thank you for joining us for the 29th Yarramundi Lecture, held on 7 July 2026 at Western Sydney University. This year's lecture brought together community members, students, academics, and esteemed guest speakers to engage in meaningful dialogue, share knowledge, and reflect on issues of importance to Indigenous Australians.

Aligned with the 2026 NAIDOC theme, "50 Years of Deadly", the event celebrated five decades of NAIDOC and recognised the strength, resilience, achievements, and contributions of Indigenous Australians. Marking this significant milestone, the lecture provided an opportunity to honour the past, celebrate the present, and look towards a future grounded in self-determination, truth-telling, and community leadership.

This year’s lecture featured

• Keynote speaker Karen Mundine, a proud Bundjalung Woman and CEO of Reconciliation Australia.
• Student address delivered by Lydia Volkiene, Wiradjuri woman and third year medical student.
