Biography

Vojislav came to UWS in 1995 from the University of Sydney.. Prior to his engagement at the University of Sydney, he was a Research Engineer with the CSIRO Division of Energy Technology where he led a Research Team into applications of multi-phase flow technology to petroleum metering from oil-wells (three patents) and vapour generation in parabolic trough solar concentrators. He spent two years in the US (while on leave of absence from the Australian Atomic Energy Commission, AAEC) working as a Research Fellow in the University of California (Santa Barbara) and Thayer School of Engineering in Dartmouth College (Hanover) on problems associated with multi-phase choked flow in pipes as a part of a wider study of a loss of coolant accident scenarios in nuclear reactor operations he had been researching at the AAEC. More recently, while also on long service leave, he spent some time as a visiting academic at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,.Vojislav obtained a PhD from the University of Sydney, Master of Engineering Science degree as well as his undergraduate degree (with honours) in Mechanical Engineering from the UNSW and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the RMIT. He is a former Leader of the Asia-Pacific District of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and a member of the Engineers Australia (EA) College of Mechanical Engineering. Currently, he is an active Board member of the International Network for Engineering Education and Research (INEER). He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Enigneers and Associate Member of the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine

His current research interests are within the broad spectrum of bioinformatics with the focus on DNA sequencing, specifically in the microbiome area, a key to the ultimate clinical expression of disease..

Applications of magneto-rheological–fluids, hypo- and hyper- thermal ablation of tissues and cavitation with submerged water jets were his former areas ot research interest and activity. Vojislav is also particularly interested in all aspects of education of engineers with  a particular  focus on introducing humanities into engineering curriculum and technology into the humanities curriculum, as well as basic elements of  health sciences.

Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics have been at the core of his teaching expertise, though he has been adaptable to the prevailing teaching needs that saw him develop Engineering Reliability, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Vibrations and Engineering Ethics courses, introduce novel methods of teaching Mechatronic Design, and teach Kinetics and Kinematics of Machines to Mechatronics undergraduates. Vojislav also provided a significant input to the common First Year teaching effort.
