Associate Professor,
School of Nursing and Midwifery

Biography

Dr Bronwyn Everett is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She has been teaching in the tertiary sector since 1990, and is committed to improving the learning experiences of healthcare students. In 2017, Associate Professor Everett was awarded the Ingham Institute's Excellence in Teaching Award.

Associate Professor Everett's primary research interest lies in preventing and managing chronic disease, specifically cardiovascular disease and diabetes. She is particularly interested in health literacy and English language proficiency and how these impact on self-management of chronic conditions. Dr Everett also undertakes research which seeks to improve the quality and safety of nursing care and patient outcomes, and how organisational and safety culture impact on healthcare. She is involved in several projects with South Western Sydney Local Health District ranging from using mobile computing technology in community nursing, implementing post-fall safety huddles, to building competence and confidence in nurses to recognise and respond to clinically deteriorating patients in mental health units. She also collaborates with colleagues on research that focuses on undergraduate nursing education (teaching and learning).
