This May, authors and ideas will be flooding Western Sydney and the city of Sydney with the return of one of the world’s biggest literary events - The Sydney Writers Festival. SPONS16WSU Western Sydney University Parramatta campus will also be hosting a free event, Getting Published: Words to the Wise on Wednesday 18th May at 6 - 7pm at EE.G.36 (Auditorium). This expert panel of authors and industry professionals sets about demystifying the opaque world of book publishing. Pick up tips on how to increase your chances of getting noticed and hear about the journeys of authors who have been to the other side (of a publishing contract) and lived to tell the tale. Featuring Robert Watkins, publisher at Hachette, Lex Hirst commissioning editor at Random House and Rosie Waterland, former co-director of the National Young Writers’ Festival, author and commentator.
