Getting here

Travelling by car

From the Sydney CBD, take the M4 Western Motorway (opens in a new window) and take the Kent Road exit.
Turn right onto Kent Road. Note that the M4 is a tollway.
Turn left from Kent Road onto the Great Western Highway.
The Werrington North campus is located on the right hand side of the Great Western Highway.
On-campus free parking is available after 6pm.

If you are attending an event at the observatory between the hours of 7am and 6pm see our staff for a parking permit.

Public parking in P1 only.
You must be parked in YELLOW marked bays ONLY.

NO PARKING ON THE GRASS.

PLEASE NOTE: Fines can be issued (enforceable by Revenue NSW (opens in a new window)) if you breach Western Sydney University Traffic and Parking Policy (opens in a new window).

Public transport is via a train to Penrith then a bus (route 774, 775, or 776) to Great Western Highway and a 1km walk.

Accessibility

Penrith Observatory is an accessible facility including parking adjacent to the building for cars displaying a current Mobility Parking Scheme permit (or Australian Disability Parking Permit).
This includes the lecture room, bathrooms, and the telescope observing area, the only area at the observatory that is currently not wheelchair accessible is the dome area housing the main telescope. We can offer virtual tours of the dome for guests unable to use the stairs.
