Literary critic and publisher Ivor Indyk will interview master storyteller Alexis Wright on her work as a practitioner of the literary novel. The workshop will focus on the genesis of stories and the role played by the imagination in their development, as well as the continuing flow of ideas which operates in the unfolding of new works. We will also consider the importance of voice and setting. In particular, Alexis will reflect on her novels "Carpentaria" and "The Swan Book" and the process of bringing these books to publication. She will also discuss the "Aboriginal Storytelling Project – A critical study of the way that stories are told about Aboriginal people in Australia today".
