The ASEAN Hub

Western Sydney University’s offshore Vietnam campus strives to be a leading institution within the ASEAN Hub delivering programs across the education spectrum.

We endeavour to be a university of choice for multinational corporations and large enterprises across the Vietnamese professional community, offering an array of programs and engagement activities attractive to all higher education levels from high school and beyond.

The Vietnam campus is an innovative and enticing learning hub catering for all with face-to-face, interactive and online delivery methods, encompassing both traditional and a highly sought modern learning experience.

To enhance the learning experience for both WESTERN and UEH students, we will work to provide opportunities for students to expand on their study and career goals by encouraging onshore and offshore study through study abroad programs, industry internships, mobility programs, short study tours and culture emersion initiatives.

Supporting students from Myanmar-Thai border refugee camps

In March 2019, a trilateral partnership was established between Western Sydney University, University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and the Institute of International Education (IIE).
Through this collaboration, the institutions agreed to engage in mutually beneficial activities to support placement opportunities for academically talented refugees. The focus of this multisector partnership is to provide a university admissions pathway by first investing in a mechanism to identify pockets of talented displaced refugee students within the region.

In June 2019, a cohort of 26 Myanmar refugees in Thailand was nominated by IIE to apply for scholarships offering opportunities to study a Western Sydney University degree through our Vietnam campus. Scholarship recipients are selected via an application and selection process. In cooperation with UEH, tuition fees are waived for scholarship recipients for the duration of their language preparatory and degree programs. Moreover, accommodation is supported by UEH, and all living expenses and stipends are supported by Ho Chi Minh City’s business community.

In September 2019, two students were selected as part of the 2019/2020 scholarship campaign. These two students are now in the final session of WSU’s Bachelor of Business program and will complete the degree at the end of 2022. The second cohort of five selected refugee students from Myanmar-Thai border have arrived in Vietnam in July 2022 and commenced the EAP program. These students started Stage 1 Bachelor of Business program in January 2023.

Western Sydney University will lift the support from 2023 to provide more scholarship places for refugee students from the region to study in WSU’s Vietnam campus.

“Our Vietnam campus plays a crucial role in providing a highly skilled, locally and internationally knowledgeable, and talented pool of graduates to meet the strong growth expected for the region and internationally. To enhance the learning experience for both WESTERN and UEH students, we provide opportunities for students to expand on their study and career goals by encouraging onshore and offshore study through study abroad programs, industry internships, mobility programs, short study tours, leadership trainings, community and social engagement activities and culture emersion initiatives.”

Refugee Students Testimonial

"I am truly proud to be able to study WSU’s international program at ISB-UEH. Studying abroad is very enjoyable. I met lots of foreigners and was able to make friends as well as got the opportunity to attend a conference in Canada. Last but not least, I am excited to continue my education in this business field, and I believe that someday I will be able to promote my community to the level that I am dreaming of.”

Our Programs

We currently offer the Bachelor of Business and Master of Business Administration programs at Western Sydney University’s (WSU) Vietnam campus. Students will have the opportunity to study in either Vietnam or Australia, or even customise study plans to complete degrees granted by WSU.

Bachelor of Business

Our Bachelor of Business degrees are tailor-made to the challenges and demands of changes in industry, technology and career. With a program structure unique to WSU, students build their degree as they go to best suit areas of specialisation. We have opened the degree to majors right across the University to give students a more diverse set of skills and knowledge.

Students can choose among Applied Finance, Marketing, and International Business specialisations to study entirely at WSU’s Vietnam campus or can pursue any of the ten majors this program offers in Australia, including Management, Accounting, Applied Finance, Marketing, International Business, Economics, Hospitality Management, Human Resource Management, Property, and Sports Management.

Entry Requirements for Admission: Applicants are required to meet the University’s entry requirements of the Bachelor of Business program.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MBA program offered by our acclaimed Sydney Graduate School of Management (SGSM) provides a mix of theory and hands-on practice ensuring student’s studies are relevant and immediately applicable to their workplace. The design of the degree reflects consultation with a range of stakeholders including industry and professional associations.

The design comprises core units which provide students with key skills such as business communication and analysis, as well as a general knowledge of the basics of business. Upon completion of core units, students may elect to complete a non-specialisation in WSU Vietnam campus or to complete 60 credit points in one out of 13 majors offered in WSU’s Australian campuses.

Entry Requirements for Admission: Applicants are required to meet the University’s entry requirements of the Master of Business Administration program.
