Bachelor of Medical Science (Advanced)

Medical Science is a branch of science that informs medicine. It combines studies of traditional scientific disciplines (e.g. biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology) with those related to medicine (e.g. anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology. immunology). The Medical Science program prepares graduates for work in a wide range of laboratory settings including, but not limited to, medical research, diagnostic pathology, pharmaceutical or hospital laboratories. It also serves as a solid foundation for students intending to study medicine as a postgraduate course.

 The Western Sydney University's Advanced Medical Science degree allows all the flexibility of the Medical Science degree and is designed for high achieving students who want to extend themselves.
This is a challenging program that provides additional research training.

This degree allows you to choose between three specialities to suit your interests and career goals. These include Biomedical Science, Medicinal Chemistry, or Anatomy & Physiology. There is some flexibility within each of these to further tailor your studies in line with your interests. Students also undertake project work and research training during each semester in Years 2 and 3.

Dr. Colin Stack is a Senior Lecturer in The School of Biomedical and Health Sciences. Colin started his career as a Post Doctoral Fellow in 1999 in the School of Biotechnology at The Dublin City University and then at the University College Dublin in the Department of Microbiology.
