Bachelor of Medical Science (Advanced)

Western Sydney University's Advanced Medical Science degree allows all the flexibility of the Medical Science degree and is designed for high-achieving students who want to extend themselves. This is a challenging program that includes advanced work, extension activities and additional research training. You will be linked to experienced researchers and be mentored throughout the Advanced Medical Science program.
To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Medical Science (Advanced) degree, you must have attained a minimum ATAR of 90. Excellence in particular units may provide you with an opportunity to accelerate their studies. You must maintain a grade point average (GPA) greater than five to remain in the course; those who do not maintain this average will be transferred to the corresponding Bachelor of Medical Science. If you do not meet the entry standards of Bachelor of Medical Science (Advanced) but are offered a place in the Bachelor of Medical Science you may be invited to transfer into the Advanced program after first year depending on your GPA and the number of places available.

This is a challenging program that provides additional research training.

This degree allows you to choose between three specialities to suit your interests and career goals. These include Biomedical Science, Medicinal Chemistry, or Anatomy & Physiology. There is some flexibility within each of these to further tailor your studies in line with your interests. Students also undertake project work and research training during each semester in Years 2 and 3.

Dr. Colin Stack is a Senior Lecturer in The School of Biomedical and Health Sciences. Colin started his career as a Post Doctoral Fellow in 1999 in the School of Biotechnology at The Dublin City University and then at the University College Dublin in the Department of Microbiology.
